Deciding which colours to choose for a painting can add depth, mood, and focal point to a landscape composition.

In this class explore complementary colour schemes of master artworks, as inspiration to make personal and intentional colour choices for landscape paintings.

  • Analyse examples of masterworks that effectively use complementary colours.

  • Mixing complementary colour pairs (e.g., blue/orange, red/green, yellow/purple).

  • Create small scale landscape paintings using vibrant contrasts and neutral tones.
